Explore Open Science Indicators
Open science monitoring allows you to analyze how research and research artefacts are produced and shared. This knowledge can help you understand how open science is changing, which practices are valuable to researchers, and what role factors like policy and infrastructure play in these overall trends.
We created our own open science monitoring framework—Open Science Indicators (OSIs)—in partnership with DataSeer to measure open science behaviors and identify ways in which we can further advance adoption of best practices. We’ve always made the OSI data and methods publicly available to help others understand the state of open science practice and create their own solutions to advance open science.
It's now easier to explore open science trends that are meaningful to you.
Our new interactive dashboard prototype demonstrates the possibilities of open science monitoring today by making OSI data from more than 160,000 open access articles from PLOS journals and other publishers easier to explore. The dataset is enhanced by OpenAlex metadata enabling you to view trends relevant to your organization or country, break the data down by research field, or funder, and compare against similar groups or overall trends.
